Drawing is where my love of fairy tales, animation, nature, animals, and fantasy shines through. It’s all about bringing my weird imagination to life! A bit about me...
I’m Elle Blake, and I live in Wellington, New Zealand, with my little dog, Sprocket.
I illustrate and design under the name Smelle’sCritters. And here are some of my favourite things;
Collecting children’s books to the detriment of my bank account and the weight capacity of multiple book shelves. But any expenditure is warranted if it’s called an ‘art reference’, right?
On a related note, writing stories for young people - I'm currently in the process of writing and illustrating my first children’s book. I’ll keep you posted!
Hanging out with my dog, Sprocket. He's the absolute best!
Fantasy. Big ol’ fantasy nerd here. It all started with the films The Princess Bride, Willow, and FernGully, and has since matured into extended edition marathons of The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
I love when different kinds of animals are best friends. Show me a bear and a tiger rescued in the wild together and I’ll show you a face covered in mascara.
Animals. I love all creatures, especially the fluffy, cuddly kinds.
Coffee. Too much coffee.
And water. Being near it or in it.
It’s good for my soul.
